18th September is National Cheeseburger Day a celebration of the perfect combo of hamburger + cheese.

Ok, Hands, who loves a Cheeseburger. It’s a match made in heaven.

So Sunday 18th September is National Cheeseburger Day. To Celebrate when you get Cheeseburger at MDC, we’ll give you a free glass of wine.

On Sunday, we should raise a glass to salute Lionel Sternberger. As legend has it, Lionel created the first Cheeseburger at the age of 17 in 1927. He worked as a fry cook at his father’s “The Rite Spot” sandwich shop in Pasadena, California. It was a quiet day in the kitchen, so he was experimenting trying different flavours. The Cheeseburger became an instant hit with customers. It became known as the “Aristocratic Burger.”

According to The Los Angeles Public Library, The Cheeseburger appeared on the first Menu at O’Dell’s Los Angeles in 1928.

Cheeseburger on a bun…15 cents.

Adjusted for inflation, $1.00 in 1928 is equal to $16.12 in 2022.
